Malpositioned Teeth

Teeth that are not in the correct position can be very detrimental to your health. Crowding, spacing, tipped or simply teeth out of position can cause some of the following:

If you are having TMJ problems the dentist will make you a Centric relation splint. This will relieve over 90% of TMJ disorder but it is only the first step to help diagnose the problem. After diagnosis the dentist will recommend the best treatment for long term success.

It is always best to reposition the teeth into their proper place to restore function and esthetics and to align them with the joints for ease of movement. This can be done in 3 ways:

  • Small changes can be treated by removing tooth structure (equilibration) which is causing imbalance.
  • Moderate  changes will be treated by placing fillings and crowns to aid in repositioning the teeth into their proper place
  • Larger changes can be treated by moving the teeth with braces or invisalign

Invisalign (clear braces) are a popular method for slowly and gradually repositioning your teeth, without the use of traditional metal braces. The convenience of the Invisalign system has made it the choice of over 2.5 million people. Invisalign uses a series of clear aligners that are 3-D printed just to fit you. Using Invisalign Orthodontics, there is no need to visit a dentist and an orthodontist. Dr. Krone can manage your dental care as well as monitor your tooth re-positioning.

Invisalign is not always the best approach for everyone so our first step is a consultation where we discuss treatments and review X-rays of your mouth. If you and the dentist decide Invisalign is right for you, we will then take impressions of your teeth and send them to the lab to create your custom series of aligners. Every case is unique, so the number of trays and length of treatment will be different for each person. After a few weeks, they will be ready and you can stop by to pick them up and start using them! We will give you at-home care instructions such as how to clean them, and make a follow-up appointments so that we can monitor your progress.

Dr. Krone has been prescribing Invisalign since 2007 and has helped many patients straighten their smile with this simple tool. He loves providing this service to patients and feels that it has been one of the best additions to his lineup of cosmetic and functional dentistry options.
